Reviewing FinWise Bancorp (NASDAQ:FINW) and

ServisFirst Bancshares (NYSE:SFBS – Get Free Report) and FinWise Bancorp (NASDAQ:FINW – Get Free Report) are both finance companies, but which is the superior stock?

I'm treating this as a request for an overview of FinWise Bancorp (NASDAQ: FINW), since the headline cuts off. This is background, not investment advice, and I'm not a financial advisor.

The business. FinWise is a Utah bank holding company that provides banking and payment services to fintech brands. Its core business is lending through fintech partners, and it has been adding payments and BIN sponsorship (the company describes this as expanding and diversifying its business model). It also runs SBA 7(a), commercial real estate and leasing lines. Jim Noone is now CEO, according to the latest earnings release, having succeeded longtime CEO Kent Landvatter.

Latest results (Q2 2026).

  • Net interest income roughly doubled year over year to $28.7 million, but net income fell to $2.1 million from $4.1 million.
  • Diluted EPS was $0.15, down from $0.20 in the prior quarter and $0.29 a year earlier.
  • Management said the quarter fell short of its expectations because of higher provision expense on loans where it keeps the credit risk.
  • Non-performing loans fell by $12.1 million to $37.7 million, and the efficiency ratio improved to 53.1%.

Trend. Earnings have slid from $0.34 per share in Q3 2025. Q1 2026 included elevated net charge-offs, partly in a credit-enhanced portfolio that is fully reimbursed under the product's structure, and partly in a few legacy SBA credits. Revenue is growing quickly, but credit costs are eating into profit. That is the main thing to watch.

Valuation and price. One earnings-tracking site showed the stock at $13.88. Earlier this year the 52-week range was about $13.49 to $22.49, so the stock is near the bottom of that range. The market cap is only a couple hundred million dollars, and trading volume is thin, so the price can move sharply.

Next catalyst. FinWise reports Q3 2026 results after the close on October 28, with a call at 5:00 p.m. ET. Consensus EPS is about $0.20.

Bull and bear cases.

  • **Bull:** fast balance-sheet and revenue growth, a lower efficiency ratio, falling non-performing loans, and a depressed share price.
  • **Bear:** two straight quarters of lower earnings, dependence on a few fintech partners, credit losses on retained loans, and a small, illiquid stock.

If you paste the article you're reviewing, I can check its claims against these numbers. I can also compare FinWise with peers such as other fintech-focused banks.
